PANAJI: The state government has directed all 27 private hospitals, empanelled under COVID19, to dedicate 50% of their beds for admission & treatment of serious COVID cases only.
“With the surge of COVID-19 cases, further leading to hospitalization with the public health sector under strain, there is an urgent need to expand the availability of beds to accommodate patients,” the order states
In view of the same all the 27 hospitals both public and private are directed to admit as far as possible only non-COVID critically and emergency patients for care and treatment in the Hospitals with the only aim to pave way for the admission and treatment of COVID cases.
“under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, has decided that all the Private Hospitals as per the list annexed in the State of Goa shall dedicated 50% of their heds, as indicated, for admission and treatment of serious COVID-19 cases only.” the order further states
Since this order was “not complied with in letter in spirit”, the government on Friday issued the new order, violations of which are liable for punishment under the IPC and Disaster Management Act, said secretary (revenue) Sanjay Kumar.
