New Delhi: The investigation into the firing incident targeting actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai has widened, with the Delhi Police Special Cell arresting four more people, including two women, for their alleged roles in arranging and transporting weapons used in the attack.
The accused, identified as Kunal, Sumit, Radha and Babita, were arrested in separate operations. Radha and Babita were apprehended at New Delhi Railway Station, while Kunal and Sumit were arrested in Sonipat, Haryana. They were subsequently handed over to Mumbai Police for further investigation.
Investigators allege that Kunal and Sumit helped arrange the weapons, while Radha and Babita transported the firearms to Mumbai and handed them over for use in the attack. Kunal, 21, and Sumit, 19, are residents of Sonipat. Babita belongs to Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh, while Radha is from Azamgarh.
According to the investigation, Kunal had recently secured bail and allegedly obtained a pistol and 20 cartridges from Amritsar. He later persuaded Radha to carry the weapon to Mumbai. On October 15, he reportedly accompanied Radha and Babita to New Delhi Railway Station before they travelled to the city. The women allegedly remained in contact with him through an encrypted messaging application.
After reaching Dadar on October 17, the women checked into a hotel. Investigators allege that a minor boy subsequently collected the bag containing the weapons. The following day, three shooters opened fire near the football ground in Juhu where Shroff had gone to play.
The attackers fired six to seven rounds at the actor’s BMW. Shroff escaped unharmed after one gun reportedly jammed, while his driver and a bystander sustained injuries.
Earlier, the three alleged shooters, Hrithik alias Roshan, Rehan and Phool Singh, were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan, while reportedly attempting to flee towards Nepal.
Investigators are examining suspected links between the accused and the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has claimed responsibility for the attack. The motive and the alleged conspiracy remain under investigation.
The three shooters reportedly told investigators that Shroff was not their original target. They allegedly intended to attack another prominent individual but changed their plans after assessing the difficulties involved. They were reportedly promised further payment and employment after receiving an advance of ₹50,000.
Police are continuing to investigate the alleged network, the intended target and the involvement of other individuals.
