Canacona: A total of 42 candidates have filed their papers for Canacona Municipal elections as the date for filing nominations ended on Thursday at 1.00pm.
Returning Officer (RO) Uday Prabhu Dessai informed that his office has received a total of 59 nominations and 17 has filed two separate nominations and effectively the total nominations are 42.
With 7 nominations, Patnem ward has highest number of nominations while kindlem and Rajbagh has 5 nominations each, Chaudi, Ponsulem, Palolem-2 has 4, Bhagatwada has 3 and, Nagarcem, Devabagh, Delem-1, Delem-2 (Mastimol) and Palolem-1 has 2 nominations each.
Hemant Naik Gaonkar and Ranganath Naik Gaonkar have filed from ward number 1 Nagarcem.
Hemant Naik Gaonkar was vice chairperson in the last council while Ranganath Naik Gaonkar is a former chairperson.
From ward 2 Chaudi Prarthana Naik Gaonkar, Ramakant Naik Gaonkar, Levino Gracias and Hemant Gracias have filed their nominations.
Ward 3 Delem-1 which is reserved for women has the nominations of Supriya Dessai and Jayashree Shet.
Ward 4 also has two nominations one is of Pandurang (Dhiraj) Naik Gaonkar and Kishore Shet.
Ward 5 kindlem has nominations of Amita Pagi, Maya Pagui, Roshan Pagi, Sanika Kankonkar and Reema Kankonkar.
From ward 6 Ponsulem Gilbert Feliciano Fernandes, Wilson Frincisco Fernandes Narciso Salvador Fernandes and Ajay Kushali Gosavi have filed their nominations.
Ward 7 Rajbagh has nominations of Ratnakar Dhuri, Rajesh Naik, Gandesh Madgaonkar, Bazil Johnson Pereira and Mangesh Pagi.
From ward 8 Patnem those who have filed their nominations are Vaibhav Fal Dessai, Shekar Naik, Sarika Naik, Maruti Komarpant, Shubam Komarpant, Sopan Dhuri and Ashok Pagui.
From ward 9 Bhagatwada former chairperson Nitu Dessai and Sanija Desai have filed their nominations.
From ward 10 Palolem-1 Rebello Mario Do Socorro and Dayanand Pagi have filed their nominations.
Ward 11 Devabagh has the nominations of Sara Naik Dessai, Sharmila Dessai and Pratixa Naik Dessai.
While from ward 12 Palolem-2 Laxuman Pagui, Rama Pagui, Divakar Pagi and Kanay Pagi have submitted their nominations.
