CANACONA: A 44-year-old resident of Khola riding a motorcycle got fatally injured after his bike hit a roadside tree on Wednesday.
Sidharta Naik, 44, resident of Kazumoll, Kholariding, a motorcycle bearing registration no.GA-09 C-4085, along with pillion Arvind Gaikwad, were proceeding to Gulem through the narrow bypass Agonda-Gulem internal road. According to Canacona police, the rider lost his control and dashed a roadside tree a few metres before reaching the NH-17 road at the foot of the Karmalghat section. The bike rider was wearing a Helmet when the mishap occurred but reportedly suffered grievous injuries.
The badly injured Naik was shifted to Community Health Centre (CHC), Canacona, where he expired while undergoing treatment.
The pillion Arvind Gaikwad, a native of Thane (Kalyan) Maharashtra, escaped with minor injuries.
Sources in the know-how informed that the deceased has a history of getting fits attacks and he may have suffered fits while riding the bike, due to which the motorcycle dashed against the roadside tree, resulting in his fatal injuries.
According to police, the deceased’s body is shifted to District Hospital, Margao, for further formalities.
Canacona police further informed after the autopsy, the body was handed over to the relatives Thursday for the conduct of final rites. The body will be cremated on Thursday, informed sources.
