Contempt filed by Govt on Mhadei issue is an eyewash: AAP

PANAJI: Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) has termed the contempt petition filed by GOA Govt against Karnataka Govt on Mhadei Issue as an eyewash. CM Sawant wants to play safe and hence resorting to ways which won’t have any impact. The contempt petition has no grounds because Central Govt has already issued a gazette notification allowing Karnataka to implement Mhadei project.

“We would like to thank media for doing ground stories on Mhadei issue, We have seen the disturbing visuals of dying Mhadei due to construction activities of Karnataka. Time and again we have been saying that CM Sawant has compromised Mhadei for the Bjp’s political interest. One of the top officials of Karnataka Govt called the contempt petition baseless as Center has already approved the project”.

CM Swant must tell us about the outcomes of his meetings with Central Ministers including Jal Shakti Minister. Till now it has been all talks and zero output.

“In a letter responding to CM Sawant which was written on 5th March 2020, Jal Shakti Minister Gajender singh Shekhwat said that Karnataka does not require any permission from Goa Govt to build its project on Mhadei. Now, tell us why haven’t you discussed this with PM Modi in your recent meeting when Jal Shakti minister has nothing to offer you? Why don’t you accept the fact that what matters to center is the number of parliamentary seats? Goa has 2 while Karnataka has 28 and that is why Karnataka is dearer to BJP’s central Govt than Goa.” said Surel Tilve.

The way Environment Minister Mr. Prakash Javdekar ignored all the major issues of Goa in his recent visit shows how serious BJP is about Goans. When we all know that all these projects are directed from center then why has he not responded to our queries?

“All the documented evidences are showing that BJP is favoring Karnataka, it has no intention of listening to Goans or so to say that Goa’s interest are compromised for larger political interest and our CM Sawant is just a mute spectator. I am reiterating, Goa may have 2 MPs only but it has 16 lakh Sons and daughters and they will do everything to protect their mother. CM Sawant, Let me tell you that you have compromised the future of our children. We won’t allow this to happen, I again request all the parties to work with us and make a strong force to save mother Mhadei”, said Surel Tilve.

Only way to protect mother Mhadei is to pressurize central Govt to intervene in an unbiased manner and listen to the issue of Goans. Till now, CM Sawant is not able to build that pressure seeking justice for Gaons.
