Margao: AAP MLA Venzy Viegas, who is campaigning for INDIA Alliance candidate in South Goa Parliamentary constituency, said that seventy percent votes in Goa are against the BJP.
Viegas is AAP MLA from Benaulim Assembly constituency in South Goa. INDIA Alliance has fielded congress candidate Viriato Fernandes in this constituency which is represented by the party (congress) in the Parliament.
Congress had won South Goa seat in the year 2019 with Francisco Sardinha defeating BJP candidate Narendra Sawaikar.
“We have been campaigning around. I have travelled in at least 15 assembly constituencies of South Goa. People are fed up. 70 per cent votes are against the BJP,” said Viegas.
He said that the people living in the state are facing issues like uncertainty to their livelihood, inflation and others.
“BJP cadre who attends their party meeting has to fill in expensive petrol in his vehicle and travel. The domestic cylinder prices have gone up. Largely, there is unhappiness over the BJP led government,” he said.
Viegas said that the people living in the coastal part of Goa are wary of the Coastal Regulation Zone Rules. “There is no clarity on CRZ norms and the people living in the coastal belt are worried that their houses may be demolished any time,” he said.
Speaking about INDIA Alliance in Goa, Viegas said that all the opposition parties have come together and they will continue this unity even for the 2027 Goa assembly election.
“This is how we are going to change Goa’s governance,” he said.
BJP has fielded business woman Pallavi Dempo from South Goa while Revolutionary Goans party has its candidate Rubert Pereira contesting from this constituency.
