PONDA: Heated discussions prevailed today at Tivrem Vargao Marcel Sunday Gramsabha, where locals demanded action against Builder for encroachment in Nulla.
The meeting was chaired by Sarpanch Unnati Naik. The encroachment issue by one Builder at Chimulwada Marcel was dominated for two hours.
Locals pointed out that one Builder has constructed his compound wall in Nullah and that, according to locals, Panchayat should take action at the earliest.
Despite being a local Goan Secretary, Razat Narvekar expressed his inability to conduct gram sabha proceedings in Marathi over issues which irked locals. There was a heated discussion between locals and Secretary over the language issue. Further Secretary told villagers that the Builder had given an affidavit that he would conduct a survey of his property located near Nullah, and in case after that, it is found that he had encroached in Nullah, then he would clear his compound wall from Nullah.
The Villagers asked Secretary to produce that affidavit. However, he failed to show it to the villagers. As gram sabha members stressed to continue on only one issue, Sarpanch and Secretary tried to leave the Gramsabha. However, the irked villagers even tried to confine Panchmembers inside the meeting hall, following which Police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.
