PORVORIM: Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte today alleged that NH 66 digging works began without prior notification and that authorities have not been taken into confidence.
Minister and MLA Porvorim Rohan A Khaunte inspected the National Highway along with Penha De Franca Panchayat and Government Officials.
“Authorities not taken into confidence, Khaunte on NH66 work. NH 66 digging works began without prior notification. Flyover work will be kept on hold till a joint meeting with all departments is held on Saturday,” said Khaunte.
Khaunte said that the Contractor had started work without any coordination with sideline departments and that is the reason, the contractor was instructed not to carry on work without showing traffic provision and the final plan.
“Presentation and final discussion will be held on Saturday during a meeting with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Mamlatdar has not been issued directions on heavy vehicles diversion,” he added.
Khaunte underscored the importance of adhering to directives set forth by the Chief Minister. He emphasized the inclusion of local panchayats’ inputs in the decision-making process regarding the flyover project.
“The work on the flyover will start only after all the directions given by the CM are abided. The inputs of local panchayats will also be taken,” stated Khaunte.
He also said that the contractor began works and the service road at Porvorim has been disturbed without prior approvals.
Addressing traffic concerns in the area, Khaunte advised against unnecessary interruptions by traffic police along the Porvorim stretch from Guirim to Mandovi Bridges.
“Traffic police are advised against stopping the vehicles and challenging them on the Porvorim stretch from Guirim to Mandovi Bridges,” he added.
Khaunte even noted that traffic congestion is a persistent issue in this area and that police intervention exacerbates the situation further.
