PANAJI: On Wednesday, the AAP in Goa called for a judicial investigation into the coastal state’s cash-for-jobs fraud, asserting that the Enforcement Directorate’s investigation will not change anything.
According to media reports, the Enforcement Directorate has opened an investigation into the cash-for-jobs fraud, AAP Goa President Amit Palekar informed reporters in Panaji.
Since the ED is just another BJP agency, Palekar stated, “I feel that the inquiry by the ED will yield no results.”
He claimed that because some BJP officials were involved in the scandal, his party had called for a judicial investigation into the whole thing.
The accused allegedly coerced several government job applicants to pay lakhs of rupees for the position, according to many complaints made throughout the state. Over eleven suspects have been taken into custody by police in relation to the cash-for-jobs scheme.
Police are cracking down on a number of accused who were enticing young people to pay for government positions, according to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who also stated that an impartial probe into the entire scam is underway.
Recently, AAP Goa president Amit Palekar and Aam Admi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh attempted to connect Sawant’s family to the “scam.” Singh claimed that “jobs are being sold for bribes in Goa” and that the government is afraid to let an outside agency handle the inquiry.
Both Singh and Palekar, who made the accusation during a news conference in New Delhi, are currently free on bail and are being charged with crimes, including tampering with the evidence, according to the BJP.
According to Subhash Phal Dessai, Minister of Social Welfare, the BJP wants to expose their falsehoods and divisive opposition rather than pursue a defamation lawsuit.
