In a scathing attack on the BJP-led Goa government, AAP General Secretary (Campaign) Francis Coelho ridiculed CM Pramod Sawant’s attempt to distance BJP leaders from the cash-for-jobs scam, calling the Goa Police press conference a “scripted farce.”
AAP General Secretary Francis Coelho has strongly criticised Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s response to the Goa Police press conference on the cash-for-jobs scam, calling it a “shameless cover-up.”
Coelho added, “CM claimed that the DGP never explicitly used the term “clean chit.” Of course, the DGP didn’t use those exact words—no senior police official would outright declare, “We give a clean chit to the politicians,” as it would make them a laughing stock. However, stating “absolutely no political connection has been found” is essentially the strongest clean chit they could possibly give.
Coelho pointed out that the Goa Police’s confirmation of the scam’s existence since 2014 directly implicates the BJP-led government, which has been in power throughout this period. He also questioned the lack of action on previous exposes, such as Babush Monserrate’s revelation against the PWD Minister in 2022.
The AAP demanded an independent and impartial investigation into the job scam, as the BJP’s controlled probes have only deepened the public’s mistrust in the system. The CM must answer for his government’s failures.
Goa Speaker and BJP Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar’s recent criticism of the BJP’s culture of defections is a classic case of “Sau choohey khaakar billi Haj ko chali,” said Sunil Signapurkar, Vice President of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). After enjoying all the perks of his position and being part of the BJP’s illegitimate government, Tawadkar is now pretending to take the moral high ground.
Despite having disqualification petitions against defectors on his desk for years, Tawadkar failed to act. Instead, he allowed the “choryecho sarkaar” to continue while comfortably enjoying the perks of being Speaker, a position ranked higher than even a Cabinet Minister.
“If he truly believes in what he says, Tawadkar should resign as Speaker and MLA and BJP member. We challenge him to contest as an independent candidate against BJP in a by-election, even Aam Aadmi Party will support him if he lives up to his words” stated Signapurkar.
AAP Youth Wing President Rohan Naik slammed the BJP government in Goa, stating that while AAP Punjab, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, created 48,000 government jobs and regularized 30,000 contractual positions, Goa’s BJP government, led by Pramod Sawant, is embroiled in a cash-for-jobs scam.
Naik pointed out that AAP Punjab also attracted Rs. 60,000 crores in investments, poised to generate a further 3,00,000 jobs in the private sector, while Goa’s youth are left frustrated as the BJP fails to create meaningful job opportunities. Allegations of ministerial staff involvement and attempts to bury investigations have raised concerns over the BJP’s lack of integrity and accountability.
