While reserving its comments on the new Education policy brought out by the central government, Aam Aadmi party said that the party would come out with its views after studying the policy properly in detail.
At the same time, AAP Convenor Elvis Gomes lost no time in welcoming the decision to rename the ministry from HRD to education ministry.
He said that Manish Sisodia in his public address to teachers in Margao Goa exactly two years ago, had demanded that it was time to change the name of the ministry from HRD to education ministry.
“Manish Sisodia rated as the best education minister among states was always vocal about it. His demand was based on his contention that HRD was ‘just one dimension of education’. Development of the child as a human resource alone was not what education was meant to do,” said Gomes adding that the mother tongue issue needed proper understanding before expressing any views as it was a ‘tinderbox’ which had divided the people of Goa in the past thus giving advantage to politicians who were comfortable with the ‘divide and rule’ policy.
