Panaji: Goa suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in the Women’s Under-19 T20 Trophy Elite, going down to Odisha by 10 wickets in a Group D encounter at the Alur Cricket Stadium 2 on Wednesday.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, Goa managed 92 for five in their allotted 20 overs. However, the total proved insufficient as Odisha produced a dominant batting performance, reaching 93 without losing a wicket in 15.1 overs to secure a comprehensive victory.
Opener Rakshanda Kalangutkar was Goa’s leading scorer, making 36 off 48 balls with three boundaries and a six. Nikhila Naik provided valuable support with 25 runs, while Usma Khan added 18 as Goa attempted to build a competitive total.
Despite these contributions, Goa struggled to accelerate their scoring during the innings and finished with 92 for five. Odisha’s bowlers maintained control, with Priyadarshini Pramanik claiming two wickets for 11 runs and Anushka Mishra taking two for 22. Chitta Soren picked up one wicket for six runs.
Odisha made the chase look effortless, with their opening pair delivering an unbeaten partnership that left Goa without a breakthrough. Ishita Pani led the charge with an unbeaten 51, while Anushka Mohanty supported her with an unbeaten 38.
The duo combined effectively to guide Odisha to 93 in just 15.1 overs, completing the chase with all 10 wickets intact. Pani’s half century ensured a confident finish, while Mohanty provided steady support at the other end.
The defeat marks Goa’s fourth successive loss in the tournament, leaving the team with one final opportunity to finish its campaign on a positive note.
Goa will face Himachal Pradesh in their final match on October 16, aiming to bounce back from their recent results and end the competition with a stronger performance.
