ALDONA: Terming it as ‘WhatsApp University for Promoting Themselves’ Congress Leader and ALDONA MLA Adv Carlos Ferreira today has slammed the Goa government for roping Social media influencers at the cost of taxpayers money.
“I slam the Goa Government for roping in Social Media influencers for promotions at the cost of taxpayers, calls it a “WhatsApp university promotion for promoting themselves,” said Ferreira.
He further questioned why does Government need influencers, the government should stand up and explain their achievements.
“If some influencers are giving negative publicity to Goa, then they should be put behind bars, but If they are showing something correct and pointing out irregularities,” he added.
Adv Carlos said that the Government should not get offended rather they should see that they take corrective actions.
The Goa government unveiled a policy to rope in social media influencers to promote government schemes.
The policy, among the first such initiatives in the country, will have a budget of Rs 2 crore and the ESG has been appointed as the nodal agency for its implementation, officials said.
It will bridge the gap between government schemes and their intended beneficiaries, CM Sawant said.
