New Delhi: Goa’s young badminton star Amaira Dhumatker continues to rewrite the record books with yet another outstanding achievement, proving that age is no barrier to excellence on the court.
At just nine years old, Amaira captured the girls’ singles and doubles titles in the Under 13 category at the All Goa Major Ranking Badminton Tournament, underlining her growing dominance against older competitors.
The tournament was held at the Peddem Indoor Stadium in Mapusa from June 19 to 21 and brought together some of the state’s most promising young shuttlers. Amaira’s impressive performances throughout the competition showcased her skill, determination and maturity beyond her years.
Her latest triumph adds another chapter to an already extraordinary journey in badminton. Since 2023, when she was only seven years old, Amaira has consistently emerged as a winner in both the Under 9 and Under 11 categories at All Goa State Ranking tournaments, establishing herself as one of the brightest talents in the sport.
In 2025, she created history by winning a bronze medal for Goa in the Under 11 category at the National Championship held in Gujarat. The achievement made her one of the youngest players from the state to secure a national medal at that level.
Despite still being eligible to compete in the Under 9 division, Amaira has continued to challenge herself against older opponents and has repeatedly risen to the occasion with remarkable success.
Her achievements have made her one of the most exciting young prospects in Indian badminton and a source of pride for Goa’s sporting community.
