CANACONA: Agonda gramsabha too joins the chorus demanding not to permit Sunburn in South-Goa or anywhere in the State and also asked government to include Romi Script in the State’s official language-Konkani alongwith Devnagiri script.
Agonda gram sabha on Sunday passed these two resolutions besides decisions to repair of the potholed roads, provision of Drainage system and Streetlights at the newly constructed internal road from Parvem to Desaiwado, construction of Retaining Wall at Chatcktem, besides not to permit lound Music and Bars beyond the permissible time during Tourism season in the village.
A congratulatory motion is also passed to congratulatory newly appointed Dy. Sarpanch Karuna Faldesai, even as Panchayat is asked to curb Dadagiri of Delhiwalas in the village. ‘A member informed that Dadagiri of Delhiwalas has come to haunt the villagers, and incident of a Delhi man is carrying out illegal construction and tourism activities in the village. ‘Panchayat should not entertain such people, and in future if any proposal comes in the panchayat, it should be placed before the Gramsabha, before granting any sorts of NOC or permission.’ Accordingly an unanimous resolution is passed I nthe gramsabha.
There was also discussion of supplying contaminated water in the village, besides some members made demands to completely ban plastic use except for water-soft drink bottles (which are recyclable). ‘If the manufactoring and supply of plastic bags in the village is stopped, the plastic menace can be avoided’, opined a villager.
Earlier Sarpanch in the presence of panch memebrs and Panchcyat Secretary Amol K Naikgaunkar felicitated meritorious students in the SSC Examinations (April’2024) of the two High Schools in the Village (first three toppers from each of the schools of St. Anne’s Institute and Govt High School).
After declaring Agonda Village as LIC Bima Gram for the 4th time, a team of LIC Officers alongwith its Agent Agnelo Fernandes presented a cheque of Rupees One Lakhs to the Village Sarpanch Preettal Fernandes. LIC declares a village Bima Gram with a minimal of 100 policies.
Sarpanch Preettal Fernandes later felicitated multiple times featured MDRT LIC Agent Agnelo Fernandes on the occasion.-
