PANAJI: The United Friends, Panjim a socio, entertainment and sports group involved in various activities and events, will be organising the all Goa fishing contest at the Captain of Ports Jetty in Panjim on Sunday, Oct 24, 2021, from 10.00 am onwards.
The fishing contest is held in the loving memory of United Friends member, late Mr Valerio D’silva, a die-hard fishing enthusiast from Panjim.
This is the 14th successive year the traditional annual competition will be organised but had a break in 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
The all Goa fishing contest is one of the few open fishing contests open to all, including tourists in Goa, attracting many angling enthusiasts and families from all over Goa.
The organisers have mentioned strict social distancing, sanitising and all COVID 19 protocols as advised by the Government will be maintained.
This year, the first prize will be Rs 7,000/- cash prize, while the first and second runners up will take home 5,000/- & 3,000/- respectively besides trophies and gifts.
Those wishing to participate are advised to enrol early to avoid last-minute rush and carry their own fishing materials, including fishing rods, lines, bait, and sun/rain protection gear.
The participation fee is only Rs 100/ participant while other terms and conditions apply; spot prizes and gifts await the participants.
Snacks and refreshments will be served to the participants.
The Sunday promises to be a family affair with families too participating along with their children in a fun fishing contest.
