Panaji: Amche Mollem Group commended Goa’s Opposition parties for coming together to put up a strong and spirited fight for Goa against the three linear projects that threaten the very existence of the state’s future.
The Citizens’ movement thanked Goa’s opposition leaders for listening to the voices of the Goan people and for vociferously expressing their objections against the three linear projects at the recently held assembly session.
Opposition leaders such as Digambar Kamat, Vijay Sardesai, Aleixo Reginald Lourenco, Luizinho Faleiro, Rohan Khaunte and others urged the ruling dispensation to respect the sentiments of the people and to think of the future generations by scrapping the three projects.
The Amche Mollem Group said the government was exposed by one of its own MLA’s Alina Saldanha of Cortalim constituency, who stood against her own government pleading with them to scrap the three projects as she voiced the many problems faced by her constituents who live alongside the railway tracks.
Reacting to the recently concluded assembly session Amche Mollem Group said: ‘It is absolutely appalling that despite the painstaking scientific studies, reports and realistic information disseminated to the government and its MLAs, that most of them chose the future of vested corporates over the future of their own state and its people. Those MLAs who went against the interests of their homeland by voting against the resolution and those who abdicated their responsibility by staying away, will forever be remembered for this betrayal in the annals of Goa’s history. We will continue our fight to save Goa. After all it is the matter of survival for Goa and her future generations.’’
