Mollem: Due to a landslide, the vehicular traffic between Belgaum to Goa via Anmod Ghat was disrupted on Thursday. Huge pile of mud slipped on the road due to which the vehicles could not pass.
A huge pile of mud was seen on the road near Shree Dudhsagar Temple in the ghat region. Fire and Emergency Services had rushed to the spot to clear the road. But till Thursday morning, it could not be removed.
Police have said that the traffic will remain closed through Anmod Ghat at least till Thursday afternoon. A senior police officer said that efforts are going on to make way for the vehicles to pass.
Due to this incident, several vehicles were seen lined up in Anmod Ghat. Police had started stopping the vehicles at Mollem check post, alerting them about the landslide.
Anmod ghat is an important link between Goa and Karnataka. This is used by vehicles going to places like Belgaum and Khanapur and even up to Kolhapur.
Many vehicles carrying essential items like milk and vegetables use this road. Due to the closure of this road, there is possibility that supply of essential items may be affected in Goa.
