Goemkarponn desk MAINA: After allegedly molesting a 2-year-old girl from the same village, a 45-year-old man from Salcete has been charged with rape. The mother of the victim filed a complaint with the Maina-Curtorim police in August, and the police then filed a chargesheet in the case. The victim’s neighbour, the accused, was taken into custody and placed under judicial supervision. Right now, he is being housed at Colvale Jail. The victim’s physical state is stable, according to police sources, and a medical assessment has been carried out.

The incident took place on a flight of stairs leading to the upscale nightspot in the city. Three individuals from Margao suspected accused Viraj Gadkari, Aditya Naik, and Zia Mansoor, have been arrested and charged with attempted murder under the new BNS Act. They were remanded in police custody for three days by a local court. A Ponda resident, Shardul Shenvi Khandeparkar (24), sustained grievous injuries during the brawl.
