Panaji: In a dramatic turn of events at the Rosary Church ground in Navelim, Ronaldo Pereira stole the show with a stunning brace that propelled Navelim Villagers Union into the finals of the United Trophy organized by United Club Telaulim. Defeating Parish Youth Nuvem 3-2, Pereira’s decisive goals marked a significant comeback for Navelim, turning the tide in their favor after a tumultuous first half.
The match kicked off with Parish Youth Nuvem taking an early lead through Joywin Costa’s goal in the 10th minute. Navelim responded strongly, with Clifton Niasso’s powerful shot finding the net to equalize before halftime. However, Nuvem regained the lead just before the break when Shenoy Colaco scored, leaving Navelim trailing 2-1 as the teams headed into halftime.
The second half saw Navelim’s determination pay off. They intensified their attack, and their efforts were rewarded when Ronaldo Pereira scored crucial goals in the 33rd and 51st minutes. This remarkable performance not only sealed the win but also earned Pereira the Man of the Match award, presented by Romeo, President of United Club Telaulim. Pereira’s standout display was the defining factor in Navelim Villagers Union securing their place in the finals.
