Goa government had issued notification on Aug 11 to hike the minimum wages by Rs 100 after the gap of 8 years from Rs 307 to Rs 407. AITUC protested at Azad Maidan against the insignificant hike and demanded the withdrawal of what they called pro capitalist notification. Goemkarponn Desk PANAJI: Goa government has made Teachers Eligibility Test(TET) as an essential qualification for direct recruitment of all the teaching posts at the elementary level. Pointing out that the under Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009 and Rules 2012, the Recruitment Rules prescribed by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) are applicable to all the recognized elementary schools, the circular issued today by the Directorate of Education has specified that the TET has to be conducted in accordance with the guide lines framed by the NCTE for the purpose.

Shevanti Dessai, 55, and her son Hemant alias Sarvesh Dessai, 28, from Xelvona, Curchorem have been charged of killing their relative Suryakant Dessai in 2018.
