PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral said that PPP partner for new smart water meters will be shortlisted by December.
Pointing out that leakage of non-revenue water in Goa amounts to nearly 40 %, PWD Minister Cabral said that Smart meters will help curb the leakage.
He said the company taking up the project in PPP mode will get revenue based on the percentage of leakage they are able to plug.
The smart meters will have facilities such as smart reading, smart flow control etc. Incidentally, the state produces nearly 600MLD of treated water each day, but significant amount of it is lost to leakage.
Most potholes across Goa will be repaired using jetpatcher machine before the oncoming Ganesh festival, assured Cabral. “Potholes are defects and depressions on roads. T
renches created due to works by various departments are not potholes,” he said. Further adding that such trenches will also be filled up by the dept manually.
