Goemkarponn Desk PANAJI: Goa State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has informed that in view of Guidelines/Instructions from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, New Delhi and National Commission, Consumer Commissions in Goa are required to impose cost in case of more than two adjournments without valid reason. Recent order from Delhi determined that absence of advocate due to his appearance at another Court cannot be a valid reason. Repeated adjournment may result in dismissal of matters or passing ex-parte orders. Litigants and Advocates may take note of this and ensure presence on the date of hearing in their interest.

Goemkarponn Desk PANAJI: Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Steel company is among the ten firms who have placed 28 bids for the four iron ore mining blocks that are put up for e-auction. The technical evaluation of the bids is currently underway and names of successful bidder, who will be participating in the auction process will be knows by December 14. These mines have cumulative estimated reserve of about 135 million tonnes of low-grade iron ore resource. Goemkarponn Desk PANAJI: Former Congress president Girish Chodankar today filed a fresh application before the Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar demanding that the disqualification petition filed against eight MLAs be taken up for adjudication at the earliest. Chodankar had on November 11 filed plea seeking disqualification of the eight MLAs, who had defected from Congress and joined BJP in September.
