PONDA: Even as Dharbandora forest hills were burning today Forest department raid early morning exposed the Open Salughter of pigs in Private property that was eported today at Dharbandora , four pigs were cut and it’s meat was seized while 13 other pigs found lying at spot.
In this connection two have been arrested , while six other fled. Alert citizens brought the matter to light.
The investigation is on by forest to confirm pigs are domestic or the wild boar and source from where the pigs are brought for slaughter.
The Dharbandora Panchayat Sarpanch Balaji Gawas had warned that they will not tolerate such activities in Panchayat Jurisidcition. He criticised the people living in rented premises involved into case.
The locals exposed the suspects escaped. Local youth brought the matter to light when early morning 7 am they noticed slaughtering of pigs and informed the Panchmember Mahesh Naik following which forest officials was informed.
The Officials Narayan Prabudesai said following information about wild boar are cut at spot they rushed at spot and found four pigs were cut while 13 were found live in tied condition. The veterinary Doctors also arrived at spot and verifying it. We are investigating into matter said Prabudesai.
The migrant labourers found at spot were arrested into offence are Manjunath Lamani and one woman Basava from Hubbali are arrested.
Meanwhile the two labourer at site said to media that the pigs are brought from Andhra and it’s meat is sold here with customers from various parts visit at spot. They even alleged that their vehicles transporting pigs at Checkpost allowed to enter Goa after making cash payment.
