Everyday ends with escalating figures of Covid deaths and infections. The Pandemic is spreading like wildfire all around us as we failed to maintain the Green zone advantage achieved by Goa. I do not want to harp again on the failures & mismanagement as the present priority is to save each and every Goan from the pandemic. Around ₹ 12 lakh worth of liquor was seized at the Patradevi check post this morning which was being smuggled to Maharashtra. Sources revealed that the truck driver had no documents for the liquor. The driver has been arrested, say sources. Further, they said that the driver wanted to cross the border suggesting that the material was for military purpose and had no documents.
The Corporation of City of Panaji has fined 15 tourists for not wearing face masks. CCP Mayor Uday Madkaikar said that as per State SOPs wearing of masks is mandatory. “There were several tourists near Panjim church not wearing masks,” he said. He stated that the CCP drive will continue as there is huge spike in COVID19 cases in the capital city. The fine for not wearing masks is ₹ 100. After five months of lockdown, Goa has seen huge influx of tourists this weekend after the State relaxed entry SOPs following Centre’s directive.
