Goa reported the fifth death of a COVID-19 patient on Friday, when a 75-year-old woman succumbed to the virus at the COVID hospital. The State on Friday reported its second-highest single-day increase in cases, with 94 persons testing positive from 2,703 sample reports that arrived on Friday. A day earlier, on Thursday, the State had recorded it highest single-day spike with 95 cases. With Friday’s addition of 94, the confirmed cases now stand at 1,576, of which 800 are active and 772 have recovered from the virus. The District Magistrate, North Goa on Friday has ordered to de-seal the Goddemal Village, Deulwada and Kasarwada in Sattari taluka which were declared as Containment and Buffer Zones respectively with immediate effect. The district administration, on June 13, had declared Goddemal as containment zone for COVID-19, while surrounding Kasarwada and Deulwada as buffer zone areas after the locality reported nearly 15 positive cases.
