High Court has revoked construction license issued by Mollem Panchayat to the Tamnar Power Project transmission line substation at Sangod. The license has been cancelled because it was issued by Sarpanch without a resolution in the Panchayat. Now the application for construction license for the substation will be placed before the panchayat body. Goa Tamnar Transmission Project Ltd (GTTPL) in its statement has tried to downplay the impact of these development projects on the ecology, claiming only 1,000 trees will be felled in the wildlife sanctuary.

The body of the missing MiG-29 pilot Commander Nishant Singh was found on Monday, Indian Navy officials said. Commander Singh had gone missing on November 26 after his MiG-29K trainer aircraft crashed into the Arabian Sea. Rescue teams were able to rescue the other pilot on board. The Russian-origin twin-seat trainer jet went down off India’s west coast after taking off from the deck of the country’s only aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya. The November 26 crash was the fourth accident involving the MiG-29K maritime fighter fleet.
