PORVORIM: :Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai has demanded a quota within the Naik Bhandari Samaj within the OBC. However, Minister for Social Welfare Milind Naik said that there is no specific reservation in an individual community in the OBC category.
“We at GFP demand a quota within quota for the Naik Bhandari Samaj. This is very much possible, and the Minister is not aware of the same. We have already sought a legal opinion, and it is possible,” said Vijai on the floor of the House.
He further said that this government has failed, and they will do the same once they form the state government in 2022.
“They should give us a half an hour discussion on this issue; half of the MLA’s are from the Bhandari Samaj,” he added.
During his reply, Minister for Social Welfare Milind Naik said that there is no specific reservation in an individual community in the OBC category, and also there is no reservation in promotion for the OBC category as per the Government guidelines.
