CANACONA: The Indians gained equality due to the vision and foresight of Babasaheb Ambedkar. Indian democracy is the largest democracy in the world. The Constitution have given us the responsibilities, the responsibilities of being a vibrant Republic, stated Minister for Water Resources Subhash Shirodkar.
Speaking further, Shirodkar who earlier unfurled the tri-color at the official Republic Day celebrations in Canacona said ‘For that, we should follow the law of discipline and line of each one’s duty.’
He was speaking as the chief guest after unfurling the tricolor at Shri Gaitonde Mini-Sports Complex near ther Canacona Deputy Collector’s office on the 76th Republic Day of the country. On this occasion CMC Chairperson Sara Shambha Naik Desai, Councilors Amita Pagi, Hemant Naikgaunkar, Canacona Deputy Collector Madhu Narvekar, Sales Tax Assistant Commissioner Manthan Manish Naik, Canacona Mamlatdar Manoj Korgaonkar, Police Inspector Harish Raut Desai, PI (Traffic) Gautam Salunke, family members of the freedom fighters, various departmental heads and officers, staff, teachers, students and some prominent citizens were present.
Continuing his speech, Minister Shirodkar said, ‘In 1947, the population of our country was just around 50 to 60 crores. It has now increased to over 141 crores. In spite of having different religions, different languages, our country is supreme towards right to equality in this country. Now we have to think about taken upon the tasks as to how to bring economic equality in the country. It is the responsibility of elected people’s representatives to work to ensure that all 12 talukas develop together. It’s a challenge to each of us people’s representatives as to how will everyone develop their taluka” said Shirodkar.
On this occasion, students from Shri Mallikarjun Vidyalaya, Shri Katayani Baneshwari Vidyalaya, Shristhal Anganwadi, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Special Children Lok Viswas Pratishthan and students of Government Higher Secondary School performed patriotic songs and dances.
