VASCO: In a significant move towards strengthening women’s representation in the security forces, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is set to establish its first Mahila (Women) Reserve Battalion in Nuh, Haryana.
A press release issued by Shrikant Kishore, Deputy Inspector General (INT), CISF, confirmed that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) approved the creation of 1,025 posts for this purpose on November 11, 2024. The Government of Haryana has allocated a 50-acre land parcel in Nuh, which has been deemed suitable for the battalion. The key location plan received final clearance from the MHA on January 24, 2025.
Strengthening Security in NCR
The new Mahila Battalion will play a crucial role in addressing the increasing demand for women personnel in the Delhi NCR region, which houses major CISF units, including:
Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI)
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)
Parliament House Complex
Central Government Building Security
Additionally, with the upcoming Jewar International Airport, the need for trained women personnel is expected to rise. The strategic location of the Mahila Battalion in Nuh will allow CISF to swiftly deploy trained security personnel to high-alert locations when required.
1st Reserve Battalion Also to Be Shifted to Nuh
In a parallel development, CISF has acquired another land parcel at Village Indri, Nuh, for the relocation of its 1st Reserve Battalion, currently stationed temporarily at Barwaha, Madhya Pradesh. This move has also received MHA approval and is expected to enhance operational efficiency.
With both the Mahila Battalion and the 1st Reserve Battalion stationed in Nuh, CISF aims to strengthen its security framework and enhance rapid deployment capabilities across the NCR region. The battalions will be equipped with modern security gadgets to meet evolving policing needs.
This initiative marks a historic step towards gender inclusivity in CISF while ensuring greater security preparedness for vital installations across the region.
