PANAJI: The Sessions Court has denied bail to Ayub Sayed, the main accused in the Cenvi Pires attempt to murder case.
Adv. Seoula Vas intervened in the matter on behalf of the victim and opposed the Bail applications. This was the second Bail application of the Accused upon the filing of the Chargesheet.
The Chargesheet is compiled on the testimony of 4 eye-witnesses, among other evidence collected from the crime scene, which formed the main grounds for rejection of bail. Accused may appeal before High Court for relief.
It may be recalled that the first Bail applications of both Accused were also rejected by the same court in July this year pursuant to being opposed by Adv. Seoula Vas on the instruction of the victim.
This case gained widespread attention all over the State after CCTV footage emerged of the crime taking place showing both Accused anti-social elements in a coordinated attack on the victim with the use of dangerous weapons in broad daylight on a public street resulting in fracture of the victim’s leg and head injury.
The second Accused Anil Kumar’s present Bail application has not yet been decided and is still pending. He had an equal role to play in the offence.
