KERI (SANKHALIM) — Even as the road on Chorla Ghat to Belagavi continues to be pathetic, the District Magistrate, North Goa, has permitted the entry of Heavy Commercial Vehicles between 8 pm to 6 am to the vehicle proceeding from Kerim, Goa to Belgavi State via Chorla ghat.
The District Magistrate also permitted the vehicles proceeding from Belgavi to Kerim, Goa via Chorla ghat, for the period up to signboards, 2021.
“It is also notified that the PWD will put up necessary sign boards for the vehicular traffic information and install booths for Police Personnel,” teh DM said.
In July, DM had ordered to ban heavy traffic from the Chorla Ghat area between Goa and Belgaum, but there has been no implementation of the said order.
Due to the non-implementation of this order, many heavy vehicles are plying on this route, and three accidents have taken place on Sunday itself.
It has been revealed that in all accidents, heavy vehicles were involved.
The continuance of heavy vehicles poses grave danger for light vehicles and two-wheelers.
Locals ask why there is no action against heavy traffic? Whose blessings do they have?
Despite ban, 20-wheelers are also plying on this highway.
It is understood that a large quantity of dolomite is being transported from Karnataka.
These goods are currently being supplied to Sesa Goa and other companies, which does not rule out the possibility of the road deteriorating in just four months.
