PANAJI: The President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday alleged that beleaguered BJP has started opting Goondaism in Quepem municipal election and with the muscle power stopped ward- no- 1 candidate Ramesh Naik from filing his candidature for Quepem municipality election.
“The hon’ble High Court has proved that the BJP government engaged itself in manipulation, while reserving the wards of municipal elections to gain victory. After it got exposed, now in frustration members of BJP have started taking law in hand and in Quepem they tried to stop the candidate from entering the deputy collector’s office to file his candidature.” Chodankar said.
“Not only shameless, but BJP has proved that ‘dadagiri’ is the only option remaining with them to gain power by resorting to such acts of crime.” He said.
“According to locals from this area, Personal Assistant of Minister Chandrakant Kavalekar was involved in this crime. Police should investigate thoroughly and should arrest the culprit. If police fail to take action, the Congress will take its step to seek justice.” Chodanakar said.
He also said that a supporter of Congress, who was supposed to file nomination, is missing since morning. “After this incident of stopping a candidate by Kavlekars supporters, we suspect that our candidate who has gone missing, must have been threatened or kidnapped. Police should also investigate this matter and ensure her safety.” He said. Mr. Kavlekar & his gang can put more light on the issue.
“Now it is very much evident that BJP is converting Goa into a Goondaism state worst then Bihar and UP. But people of Goa will not allow them to ruin our humanity and unity. Congress stand with the victims and will fight for justice.” Chodankar said.
“Actually Goondaism is the part and parcel of BJP’s political strategies. It is not new for them, but Goa has never witnessed such an incident and Goans will not forgive BJP for such Dadagiri.” Chodankar further said.
