VALPOI: The Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill approved by the Goa government is for the benefit of the Dhangar brothers in Sattari taluka as it will give land ownership to the Dhangar brothers living in forest areas, says Dhangar Samaj Sangh.
At a press conference held in Valpoi, the Dhangar Samaj congratulated the government for approving such a historic bill but demanded immediate implementation of the Bill.
BD Mote said that the houses of the Dhangar brothers in Sattari taluka are in the name of government today.
“This Bill of the government will give us ownership rights. The Bill seems to be opposed on many levels, but we think it will be in the interest of the original bhumiputra,” he said.
He said that in 2014, 140 Dhangar brothers from Sattari taluka had applied for the scheme under the Atal Asara scheme of the Goa government. However, the application has not been approved yet due to the non-ownership of the land.
Apart from Morlem Panchayat, Dhangars have about 415 houses in 11 panchayats of Sattari taluka.
“All households will be land ownerships, and hence the Goa government must implement this Bill,” he said.
