BICHOLIM: After the recent rise in Covid cases in the state including Bicholim the authorities have started imposing fine to those not wearing masks.
As per the instructions of the Bicholim mamletdar, Pravinjay Pandit the Talathis imposed hefty fines against the offenders who were found not wearing face mask at Sanquelim Market area.
The Talathis also distributed face mask to the said persons free of cost and also created awareness amongst the general public about the vaccination programme and importance of social distancing etc. The mask were supplied by some prominent social workers.
Meanwhile the Bicholim mamlatdar also had a review meeting with the officials regarding covid cases.
The Mamlatdar instructed the Health officers to increase testing of suspected persons who are having Covid like symptoms and also to contact tracing of immediate kins who had come in contact with Covid positive patient and conduct testing of the same inorder to prevent further spread of Covid virus.
The Mamlatdar also instructed the Block Development Officer Bicholim to instruct the Panchayat Secretaries to create awareness in respect of vaccination drive among people above the age of 45 and 60 inorder to administer vaccines to them.
The Mamlatdar also instructed the Labour Inspector to issue instructions to the Construction agencies to comply to Covid Safety norms and provide face mask etc to the labourers engaged in construction activities.
The Municipal officials were also directed to penalise the offenders who are not wearing face mask in Market area etc and also to issue instructions to the shopkeepers and other business establishments to adhere to social distancing norms in their day to day business activities failing which action will be initiated against them under Disaster Management Act.
