New Delhi: A pivotal gathering of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s senior leadership took place at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence in New Delhi, focusing on the party’s organisational elections and strategic leadership planning. This high-level meeting aimed to chart the course for upcoming changes in both national and state party hierarchies.
Top BJP leaders present at the meeting included Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP’s National General Secretary (Organisation), BL Santosh. Central to their discussions was the forthcoming election for the BJP’s National President, with party insiders indicating that an official announcement regarding the electoral schedule could arrive within the week.
Alongside the national leadership transition, attention was directed toward organisational adjustments at the state level. Deliberations covered the appointment of new state BJP presidents in key states such as Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh. It is anticipated that approximately half a dozen new state unit presidents will be declared in the coming two to three days.
This reshuffle of party leadership is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the BJP’s electoral strategy as it prepares for forthcoming elections. According to sources, the process to elect the new national president may commence any time after April 20.
Currently, JP Nadda has been serving as BJP National President since January 2020. His tenure, originally fixed for three years, was extended to ensure stability and a smooth transition while the party prepares for the next phase of leadership. This extension reflects the BJP’s cautious and strategic approach toward maintaining organisational strength ahead of critical electoral battles.
