PANAJI:Canacona police acting swiftly on a complain arrested a BJP leader Mahesh Naik’s son, Pratik Naik for stalking, out raging modesty, causing hurt, abduction and criminally intimidating the victim girl on Wednesday, the accused will be produced in a local court for remand on Thursday evening informed sources at Canacona police station.
The news was doing the buzz in Canacona since Wednesday evening that a son of a high profile BJP leader is arrested by Canacona police for allegedly raping a girl.
But Canacona police who were tight lipped on Wednesday informed that they have in fact arrested one P Naik a resident of a village in Poinguinim under sections ranging from 509 to 324, 354, 365, 354 (d) and 506 ii, for outraging the modesty, causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, assaulting, abduction, stalking and criminally intimidating the victim.
The incident was reported to have happened at Galier in Poiguinim.
Sources at Canacona PS informed that they received the complain from the victims side on Wednesday morning and on the basis of the information provided by the victim they arrested the accused on the same day itself.
The victim girl was sent for medical examination today police added.
An investigation team headed by PSI Dhiraj Devidas visited the scene of offence and conducted scene panchanama till Thursday afternoon.
The accused will be produced before the judge of a local court for remand police informed.
