Margao: The Goa BJP unit is ready for municipal polls if they are held on political, the party State president Sadanand Shet Tanawade said on Friday.
“Goa BJP is all ready for elections on party line. It’s upto government and Election Commission to decid on whether to take municipality elections on party lines,” he said.
Tanawade said the recent results of Zilla Panchayat shows eight per cent of rural population is with BJP.
“We are ready for the 11 municipality and one Corporation election. BJP will win comfortably,” opined Tanawade.
Speaking further on the agitations and protests, Tanawade said the opposition do not have any issue to raise.
“The Opposition is trying their best to defame government with the help of several NGOs but they have not succeeded,” he said.
Taking a potshot at opponents, Tanawade said during lockdown BJP karykartas have toiled hard to help needy “few people stayed home and only issued press notes”.
“BJP workers and leaders were on roads helping the needy people and not seating at home wearing plastic helmets,” he said.
Tanawade was in Margao for induction of businessman Prabhav Naik into the saffron brigade.
Naik is the son of BJP leader Bhai Naik and grandson of former minister Babu Naik .
He joined BJP along with his 21 supporters.
