PANAJI: BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade today ruled out any possible political alliance during the forthcoming general elections to State Assembly while maintaining that party will go alone for the polls.
“At present we have not decided anything on joining hands with another party or alliance, we are planning to individual for the upcoming elections in 2022 February,” said Tanawade
He further said that BJP at present is strengthening the organisation across all the 40 constituencies in Goa.
“At the moment I cannot tell you anything on alliance, there is still time for elections,” he added
The BJP, which was reduced to just 13 seats in 2017, managed to split the opposition Congress and the regional party and then alliance partner MGP to reach the figure of 27.
The BJP had aligned with Goa Forward, MGP and independents to form a alliance government under leadership of late Manohar Parrikar in 2017.
But after Parrikar’s demise, Dr Pramod Sawant took over and engineered a split in Congress and brought 10 MLAs of that party into BJP.
Simultaneously, he sacked Goa Forward, MGP and independent ministers from his cabinet.
