PANAJI: BJP Leader Narendra Sawaikar today said that BJP will win the Goa Assembly Elections with an absolute majority while stating that some new parties who have come down to Goa are trying to fool the people.
“BJP will win the Goa Assembly Elections with an absolute majority; some new parties who have come down to Goa are trying to fool the people, and people should not fall prey to such tactics,’ said BJP Leader Sawaikar.
He further said that the entry of Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Goa wouldn’t impact BJP’s prospects “at all” in the 2022 assembly elections, even as he dismissed with contempt claims by TMC that it would form the next government in Goa.
“Every party has a right to come to Goa and contest elections here. But political parties who come to Goa (just before elections) and claim that they will establish their government in Goa are mocking Goans Sawalkar said while interacting with reporters on the sidelines of a function,” he added.
The leaders said that BJP wasn’t an election-oriented party as the party workers worked for the people throughout the year.
“Our workers are always on the ground, always interacting with the people. BJP is a people-centric party,” he said.
“We need 21 seats to gain a majority in the legislative assembly. So we definitely intend to win more than 22,” he said, adding the party’s immediate goal was to form its government in Goa for the third consecutive term.
Sawaikar also said that CM Pramod Sawant yesterday had attended the Central Election Committee Meeting chaired by BJP National President JP Nadda, in the virtual presence of PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Senior Party Leaders to discuss the candidates ahead of Goa Assembly Elections.
