QUEPEM:: Burglars broke into the Shri Datta temple in Quepem and stole around 40 thousand rupees from the donation box in the wee hours.
Quepem police are investigating the matter and have pressed the special dog squad; CCTV camera footage is being examined.
The increasing crimes which used to happen in the cities are now happening in the rural areas too.
In one such shocking incident, burglars looted Rs.40,000 from Shri Datta mandir devas than temple Quepem.
Dattadas Bhise, president of Shri Dutt Mandir Quepem, told the reporter that Rs.40,000 rupees were stolen from the temple’s donation box.
He further said that CCTV footage shows a burglary incident took place during midnight at around 2 hours 55 minutes.
He added that burglars opened the door lock, and three people entered the temple and opened the donation box. Then the burglars took the money and fled from the spot and told Bhise.
“This matter came to light after the temple priest came to open the door at 6 am to perform prayers. He then informed me about this incident, and I informed Quepem police,” he said.
This said that the donation box was brought under the Kushavati river bridge, and after breaking the box, the money from that box was stolen. While stealing the money, the burglar was captured by a CCTV camera.
Furthermore, Quepem police are investigating the burglary matter, and on Saturday morning, DYSP Santosh Desai visited the site and inspected the case. During the afternoon, a special dog squad was also pressed at the site.
