CALANGUTE: Joao Antonio Lopez, was taken into custody by a team from the Calangute Police Station on suspicion of illegal heroin possession during a drug raid that took place on Saturday close to Dolphin Circle in Naikawado, Calangute.
John Antonio Lopez, 53, a resident of Maddowado, Calangute, Bardez Goa, is the accused. It was discovered that he had 4.6 grams of heroin, which is estimated to be worth Rs. 46,000.
Calangute Police received reliable information that a male suspect would be delivering narcotic drugs to clients, which led to the arrest.
The drugs were taken during the raid, which was carried out in front of panchas. After PSI Akshay Parsekar filed a complaint about the unlawful possession of narcotic drugs, PSI Vishwajit Dhavalikar registered an offense in accordance with the NDPS Act, 1985.
Under the direction of PI Paresh Naik of the Calangute Police Station, the investigation is still underway. SDPO Porvorim, Vishwesh Karpe, and SP North, Akshat Kaushal, IPS, are in charge overall.
