CANACONA: Elections to appoint temple committees to be held on Canacona Devasthans on February 9
Currently, preparations are in full swing to hold elections to the Eleven(11) registered Devasthans in Canacona, including preparations of eligible electorate lists, etc.. According to the Mahajan Act, these elections will be held in the second week of February after the end of the term and the appropriate notice has to be issued through the office of the Mamlatdar.
There are 11 such big and small registered Devasthans (temples) in Canacona.
Among them are Shree Keshav Devalaya Loliem, Shree Damodar Devalaya Loliem, Shree Nirakar Devalaya, Maxem, Shree Parashuram Panchaigram Devsthan Painguinim, Shree Mallikarjun Devasthan Ave – Khotigao, Shree Mallikarjun Devasthan Gaondongrim, Shree Gopalkrishna Devasthan, Mokhard, Shree Mallikarjun Devasthan Shristhal, Shree Lakhaneshwar Devasthan Mudkud – Agonda, Shri Lakshminarayan Devasthan Shiroti-Khola and Shri Siddha Purush which includes Garvay Purush Devasthan Khola.
Shree Mallikarjun Devasthan, Shrisrhal is known as one of the richest devasthan having vast property and land situated all over the taluka, and is also reportedly considered as one amongst the top temples in the State having crores of assests.
