New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured strict action against those found guilty in the alleged Ram Temple donation theft case, stating that no individual involved would be spared regardless of their position or influence.
Addressing a public gathering in Ayodhya, the Chief Minister said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had been constituted following a request from the temple trust to examine the allegations in detail. He expressed confidence that the investigation would bring clarity to the matter and urged people to avoid making statements that could hurt the sentiments of devotees.
The controversy centres around allegations that gold, silver and diamond ornaments donated by devotees at the Ram Temple were replaced with fake items. Claims have also surfaced regarding the alleged misappropriation of donated funds, prompting authorities to initiate a detailed inquiry into financial records and donation management practices.
Officials involved in the probe are examining transaction records, inventory documentation and security procedures linked to the handling of donations. The investigation aims to verify whether any discrepancies occurred and determine accountability if wrongdoing is established.
The issue has attracted widespread attention due to the significance of the Ram Temple, one of the country’s most prominent religious sites. Authorities have indicated that further details will be made public once the verification process is completed.
The allegations have also triggered a political debate, with opposition parties criticising the state government over the matter. Leaders from various opposition groups have questioned the handling of donations and demanded transparency in the investigation.
With assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh scheduled next year, the controversy has quickly become a political flashpoint. Opposition leaders have intensified their criticism of the government, while the ruling administration has maintained that a fair and impartial investigation is underway.
The Chief Minister reiterated that anyone possessing evidence related to the case should submit it to the SIT, emphasizing that the inquiry would be conducted thoroughly and that appropriate action would follow based on the findings of the investigation.
