PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that a detailed investigation is underway into the cannabis (ganja) plants found growing in St Inez along footpaths.
CM Sawant was speaking to media after launching the Bima Sakhi Yojana in Goa at Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan.
“Investigation is currently underway into the cannabis (ganja) plants found growing in the ornamental growth along specially designed wedges beautifying footpaths in St Inez,” said CM Sawant
A second cannabis (ganja) plant had been found yesterday growing amid the ornamental plants along the specially designed wedges of the footpaths in Smart City.
However, ANC registered FIR against an unknown person/s for cultivation which is also a punishable offence under the NDPS Act.
The Police are further investigating and rounding up previous accused persons involved in the trade.
It remains unclear how the cannabis plants are being deliberately grown or ‘accidentally’ grown on the busy streets of Panaji.
