PANAJI: The Child Committee of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) held a meeting with representatives of schools across the capital to review issues concerning children’s safety, well-being and rights.
The meeting brought students, school representatives and other stakeholders together to discuss the progress of initiatives undertaken so far and identify areas where further attention and support may be required.
Participants shared experiences and perspectives from schools, providing inputs on issues affecting children and highlighting areas where existing systems could be strengthened.
The discussions also focused on the importance of ensuring that children are heard when civic policies and initiatives affecting their daily lives are planned.
The committee emphasised that creating a child-friendly city involves more than providing physical infrastructure. It also requires systems that allow children to raise concerns, feel supported and participate meaningfully in matters affecting them.
The interaction with schools is expected to help the CCP identify gaps and strengthen efforts related to child safety, welfare and rights across Panaji.
The initiative is part of the broader effort to make the city a safer and more responsive environment for children.
