PANAJI: The Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP), led by Zilla Panchayat representative Trupti Bakal along with other women revolutionaries and party members, has strongly condemned the alleged derogatory and disrespectful remarks made by former party treasurer and expelled member Ajay Kholkar against RGP State President Shavina Naik Shirodkar.
The party stated that it has always stood for the dignity, equality and respect of women and would not entertain or provide any space for such behaviour or mentality within its organisation. It described personal attacks and derogatory remarks against women as unacceptable and contrary to the values and principles upheld by the party.
Calling upon its supporters and well-wishers to collectively reject such behaviour, RGP urged people to stand firmly for the dignity and respect of women in public and political life.
The party has demanded a public and unconditional apology from Ajay Kholkar within 12 hours for his alleged remarks.
RGP also clarified that Kholkar, having been expelled from the party, is not authorised to represent the Revolutionary Goans Party or speak on its behalf in any capacity. It further stated that any attempt to associate himself with the party or misuse its name and identity while making derogatory remarks against women is unacceptable.
Emphasising that political differences and criticism of leadership cannot justify disrespectful or degrading language against women, the party said disagreement is an integral part of democratic politics, but personal humiliation and attacks on a woman’s dignity must never become part of political discourse.
“The dignity of women is non-negotiable. No woman should have to tolerate disrespect or personal attacks for choosing to lead, speak up or participate in public life,” the party stated.
RGP reiterated its commitment to upholding the dignity, equality and rightful participation of women in politics and public life.
