PANAJI: The Corporation of the City Of Panaji, has decided to waive off and reduce rates for transportation and cremation of COVID victims at St Inez Crematorium.
As per the order issued by Mayor Rohit Monseratte, CCP shall not charge any amount for use of hearse van within the jurisdiction of Panaji City for COVID deaths.
“An amount of 500.00 would be charged to transport the COVID dead from GMC to Panaji for cremation. CCP charges 100.00 for issue of NOC,” it said.
Further, considering the current COVID crisis prevailing in the state. CCP has decided to waive the additional amount of 1000.00 which was charged for those bodies other than that of Panaji City residents. The rates will be 100.00.
“An Amount of 2,800.00 is charged towards wood cost and is payable to the managing committee of the Hindu Crematorium.
Other than the above mentioned amount. No amount should be paid to anyone,” the order says.
CCP workers are not supposed to shift or handle any COVID bodies at the crematorium, the order says.
“Proper documents Doctors certifying death slip in Original. Aadhar Card or any other Government ID card. For hearse van contact Shri. Dattaram Balekar, only for Panaji till 07.00 pm. Cremation of COVID deaths between 02.00pm to 07.00pm,” the order says.
Further, as for cremation, only 10 people from the deceased side will be allowed.
“If anyone demands any additional money other than mentioned above. I request you to please call and report the same to OSD to the Mayor John Rodrigues,” the order reads.
