PANJIM: At the backdrop of a death of unidentified person due to COVID19 in Margao, Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Mayor Uday Madkaikar on Saturday said that he would urge health department and police to do testing of all beggars in the city.
“We got news that a beggar in Margao was dead and that he was found to be Covid positive. I received a lot of calls from the media, that a lot of beggars are present at Azad Maidan in Panjim. I will urge health department and police to do testing of all beggars in the city.” CCP Mayor Uday Madkaikar said
He said, “I also request the state government to find them a suitable place and shift them there.”
Further, the Mayor has urged people of Panjim not to panic post two cases reported in St Inez and Market area.
“After both cases were found both the St Inez Bandh and Fish Market area buildings were sealed by the police and health department. People in the nearby vicinity were tested today. Almost 110 people from St Inez Band and 35 people from market area were tested today for which the report will come in the next two days.” He added
The Mayor also said that those workers of the CCP living in both these areas will be barred from working until their Covid reports are out.
