Panaji: Chhattisgarh made a steady start against Goa, reaching 210 for four at the end of the opening day of the Gujarat Cricket Association Men’s Under-23 Multidays Practice Match at Gujarat College Cricket Ground A in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, Chhattisgarh put together a solid first innings, scoring 210 runs in 63 overs. Goa are yet to begin their first innings.
Shobhit Sharma anchored the Chhattisgarh innings with a patient 68 off 126 deliveries, hitting eight boundaries. Ashish Kumar Dahariya provided valuable support with 44 off 71 balls, while Yash Kumar Varda contributed 33 from 68 deliveries.
Ambrish Kumar remained unbeaten on 32, while Shashwat Sharda was not out on 14 at the close of play. Captain and wicketkeeper Rahul Pradhan scored 11 before being dismissed.
Chhattisgarh lost their fourth wicket at 172, but Ambrish and Sharda steadied the innings with an unbeaten partnership. The duo helped the visitors cross the 200-run mark and ensured Chhattisgarh finished the day in a strong position.
For Goa, Rudresh Sharma was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets for 80 runs from 21 overs. Rahul Vishwakarma took the remaining wicket, finishing with figures of one for 37 from 11 overs.
Goa captain Aryan Narvekar rotated six bowlers during the Chhattisgarh innings as his side looked to make regular breakthroughs. However, the late unbeaten partnership prevented Goa from making further inroads before stumps.
With Chhattisgarh ending the day at 210/4, Goa will now begin their first innings with an opportunity to respond to the visitors’ total on the next day.
